Полтавську битву 1709 року називають ключовою у ході Північної війни 1700-1721 років. Відбулася битва 8 липня (27 червня) 1709 року на полі, розташованому за 6 км на північ від центру тодішньої Полтави. У 1981 році музей історії Полтавської битви і комплекс пам'ятників, пов'язаних з Полтавською битвою, оголошені Державним історико-культурним заповідником «Поле Полтавської битви».

The Battle of Poltava in 1709 is called decisive during the Great Northern War of 1700-1721. The battle took place on July 8 (June 27) 1709 on a field located 6 km north of the center of the Poltava. In 1981, the Museum of the History of the Battle of Poltava and a complex of monuments associated with the Battle of Poltava, were declared the State Cultural Heritage Preserve Complex "The Field of the Great Poltava Battle".
